This species is considered Least Concern in the Quercus Red List (Oldfield and Eastwood 2007), however that assessment referred to the larger potential range of this species. Further research is needed to determine the population numbers, trends and threats to this species, to confirm its taxonomic identity, and therefore its distribution. material under the name Quercus dalechampii is reported as held in 13 ex situ collections (BGCI 2017).
