État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
Quercus cupreata is found in scattered population, with a population size potentially less than 2,500 mature individuals. Each subpopulation has a suspected number of 50-100 mature individuals (L. Garcia pers. comm. 2017). There is population decline due to human impact; however, there is evidence of regeneration (L. Garcia pers. comm. 2017).

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
In the northern parts of its range there is much more pressure on resources for Quercus cupreata due to the proximity to expanding cities, in the southern parts of its population Q. cupreata is threatened by grazing and logging (L. Garcia pers. comm. 2017). In oak forests of Nuevo León (Mexico), cattle grazing is highly concentrated (67%) on Q. cupreata and Q. prinopsis resprouted stems, and the oaks exhibit less resprouts than other grazed species (Encina-Domínguez 2011).
