État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
The forest cover in Mexico, where most of the species was distributed, has been converted to coffee plantations. The species has not been collected in these areas during the last 50 - 60 years (Oldfield and Eastwood 2007). The species is still present in Chiapas, particularly in the 'El Triunfo' Biosphere Reserve where Quercus crispifolia is the dominant temperate tree species (Williams-Linera 1993, Guevara and Dirzo 1998). In 1950, C.H. Muller reported the species as being fragmented in Chiapas, Mexico.
