État de la populationExpert
The acorns are very large and the species appears to have episodic reproduction, perhaps in the form of mast-seeding (González-Espinosa et al. 2011). There are no quantitative studies of this species, but it is known to me a dominate species on some upper cloud forests (Toledo-Garibaldi and Williams-Linera 2014). This species is very sparse in Panama.
Description complète des menacesExpert
Although no threats have been reported directly impacting Quercus corrugata, the cloud forests where this species selectively resides has been declining do to human activities. Of the original cover of 3.1 million ha of tropical cloud forest in Mexico, only 28% remained by 2002 (Toledo-Aceves et al. 2014). This decline in forests has been a trend across Mexico and Central America.
