According to Aegean Forest Research Institute (Izmir) survey in 2010, it was observed that Quercus aucheri trees had been degraded by local people due to illegal logging, overgrazing, acorn collecting (Özel 2010). Kargioglu et al. study about bioclimatic characteristics of oak species in Turkey confirm the climate change threat on this species (Uslu et al. 2011).  Nihal Ozel reported that in 2001, Ege Forest Research Institute made a tour to southwest Anatolia and observed that Q. aucheri trees had been degraded by local people (Bozzano & Turok 2002). In Turkey the tree is found in areas undergoing touristic development (A. Güner pers. comm. 2018).

According to BGCI's PlantSearch database Quercus aucheri is found in three ex situ collections worldwide (BGCI 2017). In the Red Data Book on Plants of Turkey, Q. aucheri has been mentioned as “Lower risk (LW), but Conservation Dependent (CD)”. This means that within five years the species can take its place in the other risk categories if it is not conserved (Bozzano et al. 2003). It was assessed as Least Concern in Europe (Bazos and Harvey-Brown 2017). It is recommended that population trends are monitored.
