The total population size of Quercus albocincta has not be quantified. Although this species has a small area of occupancy (AOO) no larger than 1,175 km2, it is commonly noted as the most abundant species in oak woodlands (Goldberg 1985, Burquez 1992). The population is overall considered stable, not severely fragmented, and does not have a history of extreme fluctuations.

Quercus albocincta can be susceptible to high rates of seed predation (Goldberg 1985). Additionally, habitat destruction for human development and disease pose some threat to this species. Because Q. albocincta is commonly the most abundant species in the forests in which it is found and does not suffer from severe fragmentation or few locations, this species’ population is largely not compromised by the threats listed above.

Nature and Culture International is working on purchasing several thousand acres of tropical dry forest and pine-oak habitat, which is where Quercus albocincta lives. The purpose of this purchase to create a private nature reserve, Rancho Ecológico Monte Mojino in the Sierra de Alamos in Sonora, Mexico (Nature and Culture International), which will subsequently protect Q. albocincta habitat.  Additionally, this species is found in two ex situ collections (BCGI 2018).
