Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The regionally outstanding central Andean puna ecoregion is classified as Vulnerable. Land has been extensively converted for agricultural purposes, as well as livestock grazing, firewood supply and by burning (Dinerstein et al. 1995). This species was collected from Tucumillas, near Tarija in Bolivia. In the surrounding area, there is evidence of conversion of the land for agricultural purposes and for the construction of roads (Google Earth 2024). Despite this, the species occurs at high altitudes in a habitat with large areas of inaccessible terrain which could mitigate the risks of human impact (Google Earth 2024).

The seeds of this species are not currently held by any seed bank (Genesys 2023) and there are no records of ex situ collections worldwide (BGCI 2023). The species is not known to occur within any protected areas. However, it was recorded one km east of the border of Cordillera de Sama Biological Reserve.
