No specific direct or indirect threats have been identified for this plant. However, the fact that it is known from only two localities could make it more susceptible to threats, even if it occurs within a National Park.

León et al. (2006) did not assess this species despite it being restricted to Peru. All the populations are within Huascarán National Park (Till 1991). Further research is needed to know whether the species is distributed beyond the known distribution. It is also important to study its plausible threats in more depth.
