État de la populationExpert
In Mexico the species is decreasing because adult individuals are extracted from the wild for ornamental purposes. In Dominican Republic and Florida the species is well conserved. The largest known population of the species is on Eleuthera (Bahamas) and is in a native plant preserve. In Cuba, the species is abundant, it has three populations (fragmented) and over 10,000 mature individuals. A decrease of 30% has been observed in the past, and a future reduction of 30% is predicted.
