Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The most significant threat in the region is associated with illegal artisanal gold mining activity on the Mozambique side of the border, which is currently diminishing in scale but could potentially return in the future. The direct threat from mining is largely restricted to the river valleys and alluvial plains and so will not impact upon populations of this species in the quartzite outcrops, but may have a localised impact on some populations growing in boggy, riverside sites. However, in view of this species' local abundance this is not considered to be a significant threat at present, particularly as mining activity in the mountains continues to decline. There has been an increased frequency of burning over the last two decades associated with the artisanal gold mining population which is affecting some vegetation types in the mountains, but the rocky slopes and boggy areas in which this species occurs are not greatly impacted by fire and this is not considered to be a threat to this species.
