État de la populationExpert
There are no population records currently available for Pinanga sibuyanensis. Considering the very limited and restricted occurrence of the species in Sibuyan island in Romblon, it is expected that its population size is very small, but this requires verification. The uncertainty in population size can be addressed by further inventories and documentation.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Pinanga sibuyanensis was recorded at low to medium elevations, thus anthropogenic disturbance (i.e. excessive logging, timber poaching, land conversion) are prominent threats. These activities may cause decline not only in terms of the species' population, but its quality of habitat as well. This is supported by 2019 Global Forest Watch Analysis (GFW 2020) where over 4,980 hectares of tree cover was lost from the species' native province between 2001 to 2018. These declines are considered to be continuing.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species occurrs in Mt. Guiting-Guiting Natural Park but there may be a lack of strict protection mechanisms given the recent recorded decline in habitat quality in the area. The species is listed in the DAO 2017-11 or the Updated National List of Threatened Species in the Philippines, assessed as Critically Endangered (DENR 2017). Through this administrative order pursuant to Republic Act no. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001, illegal and excessive tampering of the species from its natural habitats together with other species specified therein are inhibited. Its unauthorized utilization, trade, and disturbances made in its natural habitats are punishable by the law. Aside from this, no other known conservation strategies directed for the species.
