État de la populationExpert
There is no information on the population size of the species. Although the species is found in eight genetically isolated localities, some localities are nearer to one another and may have an opportunity for genetic exchange between subpopulations. A decline is suspected due to the continuous loss of primary forests within its distribution range.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Commodity-driven deforestation, natural forest harvesting, shifting agriculture and urbanization serve as major threats to the quality of habitat of Pinanga geonomiformis causing continuous loss of tree cover in the provinces of its occurrence (approximately 130,970 hectares between 2000 to 2020 based on analysed data from Global Forest Watch; GFW 2020).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species is not included in the Philippine Red List (DENR-BMB 2017). Its occurrence in protected areas (Lake Lanao Watershed Reservation; Upper Marikina River Basin Protected Landscape; Calavite & F.B. Harrison Game Refuge and Bird Sanctuary) and key biodiversity areas (University of the Philippines Land Grants (Pakil and Real); Mounts Irid-Angilo and Binuang) serves as in situ conservation of the species. In addition, it is known in at least two botanic gardens globally as ex situ collections (BGCI 2021). Further inventory and research are needed to account for its remaining population size in the wild. This will help in creating a relevant conservation action plan.
