Description complète des menacesExpert
Pinanga egregia was found in an area adjacent to a slash-and-burn farm (Fernando 1994). It is primarily threatened by land conversion and habitat degradation brought by shifting agriculture and illegal logging. Monitoring of chainsaws in the provinces where it occurs is not a priority activity, and most of the confiscated logs, flitches and lumber are reportedly cut in natural forests using chainsaws (Carandang et al. 2013). In addition, natural calamities such as flashfloods and landslides also serve as threats to the province. From 2001 to 2020, a significant loss of tree cover (68,000 ha) was reported in its provinces of occurrence based on analysed data from Global Forest Watch (GFW 2020).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The species is not included in the Philippine Red List (DENR-BMB 2017). Its occurrence in the University of the Philippines Land Grants (Pakil and Real) serves as in situ conservation of the species. In addition, it is known in at least two botanic gardens globally as ex situ collections (BGCI 2021). Further inventory and research are needed to account its remaining population size in the wild. This will help in creating a relevant conservation action plan.
