Description complète des menacesExpert
Pinanga basilanensis is primarily threatened by land conversion and habitat degradation brought by commodity-driven deforestation, natural forest harvesting, shifting agriculture, and urbanization. A significant loss of tree cover in Basilan (9,630 ha) and Maguindanao (14,300 ha) since 2000 were reported based on the analyzed data from the Global Forest Watch (GFW 2020).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Pinanga basilanensis is neither within a declared protected area (PA) nor included in the Philippine Red List. Therefore, the species is not protected by law against illegal collection or extraction from the wild (DENR-BMB 2017). However, it is known in one botanic garden globally as an ex situ collection (BGCI 2021). Further inventory and research are needed to account its remaining population size in the wild. This will help in creating a relevant conservation action plan.
