Although the actual population size and trend are unknown the species has been reported on a fairly regular basis (M. Sabu pers. comm. 2018).

The Forest Reserve in which the type collection was probably made is small (20 km2) an inhabited by around 400 people (M. Sabu pers. comm. 2018). Small scale logging for firewood is a current threat.
