In general, especially the lowland forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and converted by palm oil plantations (WWF 2019). Over 40% of the tree cover has been lost between 2000 and 2017 (GFW 2019).

This species occurs in Mulu NP where it is well protected (Protected Planet 2020). The populations at Batang Ai are under some threat from small holders due to rice fields and logging. The species is grown ex situ at the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh.
