This species is known from only four plants (three in flower, one in fruit), despite considerable survey effort in the surrounding area (Cheek et al. 2018).

This species is endemic to the Southwest Region of Cameroon, where it is known from the Mount Cameroon National Park. At the time of survey, no threats were observed, aside from a seasonally occupied hunters' camp nearby (Cheek et al. 2018). Severe and repeated anthropogenic bush fires set by hunters have caused degradation of the montane grasslands and may pose a future threat to this species (Cable and Cheek 1998, Fotso et al. 2001). Agriculture is important in the Mount Cameroon area, where it accounts for about 80% of household incomes in most towns (The Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife 2014). However, extensive deforestation has mostly occurred below the elevation range of this species (Ministry of Forestry and Wildlife 2014).
