Description complète des menacesExpert
This species is threatened by habitat loss. Forests within the southern Andes are being cleared for the generation of non-native pine plantations (Paritsis et al. 2008), within Chile 2 million ha have been cleared for this purposes. Deforestation due to the expansion of agriculture may also be a risk. This species is also potentially threatened by logging for the timber trade.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is reported in 34 ex situ collections (BGCI 2017). It is also found within some protected areas. The species was previously assessed as Least Concern (1998). Monitoring of harvest trends and management of species harvest is desirable to ensure sustainable use of this species. The risk of habitat loss and decline should also be investigated.
