In Bạch Mã National Park the population size is not large, about 100 plants occurring in scattered clumps. Appears to be a very particular species in terms of its ecological requirements; is always highly localized.

The subpopulations in Bạch Mã National Park are under legal protection while that in Son Tra Nature Reserve grows at low altitude where it is protected but is potentially threatened by construction and tourist development (Trần et al. 2018). One locality is outside the protected area network and, although the forest habitat is currently good, it could be logged for agricultural expansion at any time.
