This species does not form a large populations, more likely solitary plants; it also needs a specific habitat near streams (J. Leong-Škorničková pers. comm. 2019). The population is therefore likely to be small. Based on habitat degradation there is a negative population trend.

All known collections were made in primary forest, in logging concessions (Searle and Newman 2010). Around 8% of the tree cover was lost within the extent of occurrence (EOO) between 2000 and 2017 (GFW 2019).
