État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
In Arunachal Pradesh, the natural range of the species lies from West Kameng district to Lohit district; it occurs in the less accessible subtropical to lower temperate zone, and grows in large populations in virgin primary forests on mountain slopes (Gogoi and Häkkinen 2013; R. Gogoi per. obs. 2013–2020). In Dulongjiangxiang in Yunnan, and Chayu, Bome and Medog counties of the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, subpopulations are scattered and some are declining on account of anthropogenic activity; however the overall population trend is suspected to be stable (X.-J. Ge and R. Beuving pers. comm. 2020).

Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
In West Kameng, the human population density is just 10 people/km-2, large tracts of the region are designated as protected areas and there are areas that remain inaccessible due to dense vegetation, hilly terrain and a lack of trails or paths (Mishra et al. 2006, BirdLife International 2020a, UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2020). Across the majority of is distribution, this species is not affected by any major threats at present (Gogoi and Häkkinen 2013). In the long term, the opening of further transportation and service corridors may impact upon a small area of the native range but this is not anticipated to have a perceptible impact on the species (BirdLife International 2020b). Some subpopulations in China are reported to be declining on account of anthropogenic activity (X.-J. Ge and R. Beuving pers. comm. 2020); this activity is suspected to relate to urban and infrastructure development, and small-scale agriculture.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
The genus Musa is listed in Annex I of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) which aims to guarantee sustainable agriculture and food security through the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture, as well as ensuring the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of their use (FAO 2009). The species occurs within the 100 km2 Sessa Orchid Sanctuary, so passive conservation is presumed here (UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2020); however, there is no evidence of active management or monitoring in these areas (UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2020). It is not known to be conserved ex situ (BGCI 2020, Genesys Global Portal on Plant Genetic Resources 2020). As such, gathering of wild germplasm material for ex situ conservation from extant wild plants is a conservation priority.
