Mesures de conservation recommandéesStratégies de conservation IUCNExpert
This species' native distribution overlaps within protected areas in Borneo, inferred using GeoCAT (Bachman et al. 2011) and so passive conservation is presumed in this area. However, there is no evidence of active management or monitoring of this species.
The genus Musa is listed in Annex I of the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA) which aims to guarantee sustainable agriculture and food security through the conservation and sustainable use of plant genetic resources for food and agriculture, as well as ensuring the fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of their use (FAO 2009).
According to Genesys (2017) there is only one germplasm accession held globally. Active in situ conservation and complimentary ex situ collection is recommended for this species. According to Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI 2017) this species has two living collection in botanical gardens worldwide, although the size and location of the collections are not detailed in this resource.
