This species is used for medicinal extracts by local residencies (Ribeiro-Barros et al. 2018). The major threats to Morella spathlata are highly recorded within Madagasar distributions, these include illegal logging, forest degradation and agriculture or slash and burns activities (Carrasco et al. 2020).
