État de la populationTexte officiel évaluation IUCNExpert
This species has been recorded at 11 localities and is known from only 14 collections and eight sight records, but is noted as frequent within its range, particularly frequent on the Mozambique side of the Chimanimani massif on schist grasslands in 2014 (A. Mapaura pers. obs.) and 2016 (T. Shah pers. obs.). Five sub-populations have been calculated through the grid adjacency method (Moat 2007). A population survey was conducted in the Mozambican Chimanimani mountains in May 2016, using a random stratified sampling method: 25 quadrats were sampled in 100 x 50 m macro plots. The total number of individuals was 160, with 140 mature individuals and 17 recruitment stage individuals (Shah 2016). The population data cannot be extrapolated for the wider massif due to the lack of reliable absence data, however this data now provides a framework for monitoring number of individuals in the future.
