État de la populationExpert
The species is known from 14 herbarium collections dating from 1954 to 2017. Numbers in the sub-populations vary from location to location depending on the size of the marsh areas it inhabits. In some areas it is locally common such as the sandstone bowal areas around Dalaba and bauxitic based bowal at Labe where recent collections have been made. There is no population information available from the historical collections at Telimele and Mamou.

Description complète des menacesExpert
The bowal grasslands are used as pasture areas for cattle in Guinea and are regularly burned for new shoots. There is a high level of cattle grazing in the Fouta Djallon highlands. Cattle trampling during the wet season may disturb tubers of this species and grazing will affect the plants ability to breed over time. Marshy areas in the region are also used for cultivation if the soil is deep enough to support rice. The other threat to the region is from mining. The bowal grasslands of the Fouta Djallon highlands are mainly based on bauxite. There are small scale mining companies in Guinea which are currently prospecting north of Labe (pers. comm. Prefet of Labe. Also evidence on Google Earth).
