Forests of Borneo are under continuous threat of being logged and converted (WWF 2019). Around 23% of the tree cover was lost within the extent of occurrence (EOO) between 2000 and 2017 (GFW 2019).

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. Some individuals have been recorded in protected areas such as Lambir Hills (Sakai and Nagamasu 1998), Gunung Kinabalu National Park and Semengoh Forest Reserve in which parts of the population should stay conserved (Protected Planet 2019, ZRC 2019).
