The overall population size of this species is unknown. It is locally very common or abundant where it occurs, though it appears to be restricted to only a small number of subpopulations and therefore is unlikely to have a large overall population size. Despite occurring in habitat that is difficult to access, this species is reportedly suffering from over-collection from the wild for use as an ornamental (Barfod and Dransfield 2013). Though the extent of this has not yet been quantified it is therefore suspected that the population is declining.

Despite growing predominantly in highly inaccessible areas on crags and cliff crevices, this species has reportedly suffered from over-collection for the horticultural trade (Barfod and Dransfield 2013). The extent of this and its overall impact on the population has not been properly documented but could have already had significant impacts on the number of individuals and overall viability of subpopulations. This species is only found growing on karstic limestone outcrops, which are a highly threatened habitat throughout Southeast Asia, including Thailand. They are at risk from quarrying to produce limestone and other minerals and this activity usually results in irreversible damage to the ecosystem and the extirpation of species endemic to them. The scale of limestone quarrying is growing greatest in Southeast Asia than any other world region. An increase in fires on the land surrounding these limestone outcrops is also an increasing occurrence as the land is cleared for agricultural purposes. These fires can quickly move up the outcrop slopes and cause serious degradation to the vegetation on them (Clements et al. 2006). Though none of the outcrops on which this species grows appear to be either mined or at immediate risk of being mined, none of them have formal protection meaning they could potentially be exploited in the future.
