The known subpopulations occur over a very limited area and are surrounded by land used for grazing, cropping and intensive horticulture. Removal of specimens and seeds by collectors remains a threat.

This species is listed in Appendix II of the CITES Appendices. Plants are known from only a few stands, some of which are conserved in Girraween National Park. An education and awareness programme as well as the long-term monitoring of subpopulations will support the conservation of this species.
