This species has been affected by habitat loss, with estimates for decline of 10-20% in the past 50 years. There appears to be no recruitment and pollination does not seem to be taking place, and pollinator numbers may be in decline, if not under threat (Terry et al. 2008). Recurrent sever fires are also reducing recruitment to the population.
