All plants are on private land and occur within two restricted areas. The main identified threats to Macrozamia crassifolia are loss or damage through timber harvesting in state forests; degradation of subpopulations from inappropriate fire regimes, which kill surface seed and young seedlings; failure of the insect pollination mutualism; and its potential vulnerability to illegal collection.
