The species is restricted to high altitudes where there are few human impacts. However, lava flows on Mount Cameroon could wipe out known sites if the lava flow travelled over the populated sites (Mt. Cameroon erupts approximately every 20 years). The mountain on Bioko has not erupted for c.100 years but future eruption may be possible.
