This species occurs in 69 localities scattered throughout the northwest of the Iberian Peninsula. No accurate information regarding population sizes and trends is available, however there are no major threats known, and the population is inferred to be more or less stable.

It seems to be no major threats to this species, although overgrazing perhaps affects locally to some subpopulations.

It is present in several protected areas (IUCN and UNEP-WCMC 2017). The species is listed as Vulnerable (VU) in the Spanish laws Ley 8/2003, de 28 de octubre de la flora y la fauna silvestres of Junta de Andalucia and Decreto 18/1992, de 26 de marzo of Comunidad de Madrid. I has been listed as VU in the Red Book of Wild Flora of Andalucia (Blanca et al. 2000).
