Lithocarpus lindleyanus occurs in a number of subpopulations throughout Bangladesh, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand and Viet Nam. It is also reported from Lao PDR. The area has seen extensive logging, seasonal burning and land conversion to intense agriculture such as bananas, rice, rubber and palm oil plantations. It is very likely that some of these subpopulations outside protected areas no longer hold any individuals.

The region has seen extensive deforestation and habitat conversion for agriculture, seasonal burning, road construction and urbanization. Main subpopulations for this species are now only found in protected areas. The species is used for local logging and firewood collection.
