There is no specific population information available. Within the more coastal range of the species there is potential that some subpopulations have been lost due to land conversion (C.S. Kua pers. comm. 2017) however this decline requires confirmation and measurement.

This species is assessed as Least Concern in China Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Chinese Academy of Sciences 2014). The species is reported from 25 ex situ collections (BGCI PlantSearch 2017). Further information on the scale to which the coastal subpopulations have experienced historical loss and decline would be beneficial. If the habitat continues to decline this should be monitored and in situ action taken to ensure the species remains present and abundant in the wild.
