État de la populationExpert
The species is common and widespread within Sabah and Sarawak (Soepadmo et al. 2000) but is more scattered in Sumatra and Kalimantan (Nooteboom et al. 2017). In Sabah, the species is found within almost all districts and population is not considered to be in decline (J. Sugau pers. comm. 2017). The species is expected to be in decline within some parts of its range due to the widespread deforestation on Borneo, which measures as 30% since 1973 (Gaveau et al. 2014). It is not anticipated that this decline exceeds the boundaries for a threatened category under criterion A.

Description complète des menacesExpert
No species specific threats have been identified. Due to the species occurrence in lowland dipterocarp forests it is assumed it is threatened by habitat loss and land conversion. The extent to which population is affected by this is unknown. As the species is used for timber this is a further potential threat to the species. Again at present we do not the volume of the species which is harvested and traded and therefore we do not know the extent to which it is threatened by this activity. These threats to the species should be confirmed.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Lithocarpus gracilis is reported from one ex situ collection (BGCI 2017), further ex situ collections of the species should be made. It is likely that the species is found within some protected areas but this requires confirmation. Within Sabah the species is protected against felling by the Sabah Forest Enactment alongside all other Lithocarpus species (J. Sugau pers. comm. 2017). Further information on the species population size or density should be gathered and a wider knowledge of the species role within the timber market should also be sourced. Threats to the species should be investigated and confirmed.
