Lithocarpus elephantum occurs in a number of subpopulations throughout Cambodia and Thailand and Viet Nam. The region has seen extensive deforestation (logging) and habitat conversion for agriculture (rubber, bananas, rice), road construction and urbanization. Some sites outside protected areas may no longer hold subpopulations of this species.
