No species specific threats have been identified however as the species is found within lowland dipterocarps forests, which is the most widely distributed and threatened forest in south east Asia, it is likely to be at risk from different factors. This includes the loss of native habitat as it is cleared by logging for timber, the expansion of agriculture and palm oil and pulp plantations. On Borneo there has been a decline in forest cover of at least 30% since the 1970's (Gaveau et al. 2014) and this is likely to the threaten the species. Lithocarpus daphnoideus may also be at risk from its use as timber which may lead it to be over exploited but this requires confirmation. At present the true degree of threat to the species is not known.

This species is not reported from any ex situ collections (BGCI 2017). Ex situ collections of the species should be made and the species occurrence within protected areas confirmed. Within Sabah this species is protected from felling under the Sabah Forest Enactment (J. Sugau pers. comm. 2017). Further information on population density should be gathered and how forest loss will have impacted the species should be investigated. Further knowledge on the harvest and trade of this species should also be gathered.
