Lithocarpus craibianus occurs in a number of subpopulations throughout southwestern China, Lao PDR and Thailand. The region has seen extensive deforestation (logging) and habitat conversion for agriculture (rubber, bananas), road construction and urbanization. Sites outside protected areas may no longer hold subpopulations of this species. Population information is absent for Lao PDR and incomplete for Thailand.
