Lithocarpus atjehensis occurs in a few subpopulations in Sumatra (Indonesia). The area has seen extensive logging, seasonal burning and land conversion to rubber and palm oil plantations. It is very likely that some of these subpopulations outside protected areas no longer hold any individuals.

The wider area has seen extensive deforestation and habitat conversion for agriculture. Seasonal burning is a common and recurring practice here to clear land. It is safe to assume that the species is also regularly used for local firewood collection.
