Lithocarpus annamitorus occurs in a small number of subpopulations in Viet Nam. The region has seen extensive deforestation (logging) and habitat conversion for agriculture (rubber, bananas), road construction and urbanization. Sites outside protected areas may no longer hold subpopulations of this species.

The wider area has seen extensive deforestation and habitat conversion for agriculture and urbanization. It is known that the species is locally used for logging and firewood collection. As the number of subpopulations is small and poorly known, the conservation status of the species could be more critical than is apparent at the moment.
