Description complète des menacesExpert
Major threats to this species are loss of habitat and unregulated collection. Habitat loss continues due to construction of roads and human settlements, and agricultural invasion. Gray mold, a fungal disease, caused by Botrytis cinerea has also been reported in this species (Dhyani et al. 2012).

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
This species is threatened due to unsustainable collection of bulbs and habitat destruction. Therefore, there is an urgent need to develop some trade regulations, in situ and ex situ conservation. Conventional and in vitro propagation protocols have been developed for this species (Dhyani et al. 2014). Domestication of this species will help in reducing pressure on the wild habitat. During a recent study only three subpopulations could be identified from Dhanaulti, Gangotri and Bhangeli in Garhwal Himalaya. Through this study on the population and extent of occurrence in Garhwal Himalaya, it was categorised as Critically Endangered (Dhyani 2012).
