This species is very abundant. In Cuba, the population has over 10,000 mature individuals and is stable. Its exact population size across its entire distribution is unknown.

In Cuba, this species occurs at the Protected Areas "Viñales", "Escaleras de Jaruco" and "Sierra del Pesquero-Mesa-Sumidero". Management/recovery plans are unknown. Leucothrinax morrisii is collected in at least 11 ex situ collections according to BGCI's Plant Search (2020).
