Description complète des menacesTexte détaillé évaluation IUCNExpert
The most significant threat is associated with mining at Mt Nimba. Four of the five known locations are within protected areas, though this does not stop habitat degradation, e.g., at Mt Nimba Strict Nature Reserve. Google Earth imagery (Dec. 2015) clearly shows that the submontane grassland inside the protected area is also affected to some extent by the mining activities. More than 10% of the known collections occur at the fifth location: the part of Mt Nimba that is being exploited for large scale iron ore mining. The populations at that location are expected to be lost since the direct threat from the mining is primarily to submontane grasslands, the habitat of Hypolytrum cacuminum.
