This species has been observed as a few scattered individuals in cleared areas on the south coast of Biak Island. Large populations have been observed on the west coast and nearby Padaido Islands.

This species is known only from coastal limestone forest which is severely degraded on Biak, especially on the south coast. Deforestation driven by logging and clearing for agriculture is the main threat to this species (Heatubun and Baker pers. comm. 2019).
