There are no known direct threats to this species. However, satellite imagery shows that there has been over 22,000 km²of deforestation since 2000 in Telefomin sub-province where this species occurs (Global Forest Watch 2019). Deforestation in New Guinea is mainly driven by subsistence agriculture and commercial logging, as well as commercial plantations and mining (McAlpine and Freyne 2003).
