Based on the low number of collections, the population is likely to be small. All collections were made in more or less protected areas at high altitudes, suggesting that the population, for now, is stable.

Forests of Java and Sumatra are under continuous threat of logging and conversion (WWF 2019). This species should, however, remain relatively stable thanks to its occurrence in protected areas – if these measures were to cease it would suffer habitat and likely population declines.

This species has not been recorded by BGCI (2019) to be grown ex situ. All three available collections were made in more or less protected areas; Gunung Halimun - Salak National Park, Gunung Boliyohuto Protected Forest and Gunung Marapi Nature Recreation Park (Protected Planet 2019, ZRC 2019).
