Averyanov et al. state on the label of their collection (HAL-7547) that it is locally common. However, based on surveys and interviewing local people almost a decade later, it did not appear to be so. However, more plants have since been found including a new locality further to the south. The species is now considered locally common.

There is habitat loss due to logging in some of the areas, but it is not thought to pose a major threat to this species.
