État de la populationExpert
Though there are no population records currently available it is presumed the species' population size is small given its very restricted occurrence in Baler and Dilasag, Aurora but this requires further verification. With the continuous effect of shifting agriculture and urbanization in these areas, there is an expected continuing decline to the remaining population. The uncertainty in population size can be addressed by further inventories and documentation.

Description complète des menacesExpert
Aside from its restricted occurrence, natural habitat loss is one of the threats being faced by the species where shifting agriculture and urbanization are some of the major contributors. This is supported by 2019 Global Forest Watch Analysis where over 9,700 hectares of tree cover was lost from the species' native province between 2001 to 2018. The threats are persisting and high rates of forest loss were reported last year therefore decline is considered to be continuing.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
Due to the occurrence of the species in Dilasag and Baler, Aurora which are part of two separate Protected Areas (PAs) (Amro River Protected Landscape and Dibalo-Pingit-Zabali-Malayat Watershed Forest Reserve) the conservation of Heterospathe trispatha in the area is somewhat supported by national legislation namely Proclamation no. 274 of 2000 and Proclamation number 908 of 1992, respectively. However, there is a lack of strict protection mechanism as proven by the recent decline suggested by global forest watch, in local areas. Additionally, the species is included in the DAO 2017-11 or the Updated National List of Threatened Species in the Philippines assessed as Critically Endangered (DENR 2017). Through this administrative order pursuant to Republic Act no. 9147 or the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act of 2001 illegal and excessive tampering of the species from its natural habitats together with other species specified therein is inhibited. Its unauthorized utilization, trade, and disturbance is punishable by the law.
