This species is only known from one specimen on Supiori Island in the Biak Islands archipelago. On Supiori Island, there appears to be a limited amount of tree cover loss and there is currently no evidence of large areas of land being commissioned for agricultural use (Global Forest Watch 2021).

There are no recorded seed accessions or ex situ collections of this species. However, the single specimen record of this species occurs near two protected areas; Pulau Supiori and Biak Utara (UNEP-WCMC and IUCN 2021).
