État de la populationExpert
There is no current population information for the species. It is expected to experience continuous decline due to shifting agriculture, urbanization, and large-scale forestry operations (managed forests) within its identified localities. The uncertainty in population size can be addressed by further inventories and documentations. The species is severely fragmented as it is found on four different islands with limited opportunity for genetic exchange in between for both geographic reasons and anthropogenic induced regions, the later has led to further fragmentation and the subpopulations are likely to now be very small.

Description complète des menacesExpert

Natural habitat loss is one of the threats being faced by the species with shifting agriculture, urbanization, and disturbances from large-scale operations within managed forests as some of the major contributors. This is supported by the 2019 Global Forest Watch Analysis where over 65,970 hectares of tree cover was lost from the species' native provinces between 2001 to 2018. Decline is continuing due to high statistics recorded until the past year.

Mesures de conservation recommandéesExpert
The natural occurrence of the species in some protected areas (PAs) in the country aids in the conservation of its remaining individuals as these areas are supported by their respective implementing legislations under the National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) Act of 1992 against excessive and unauthorized degradations and utilization. These PAs include Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park and Northern Negros Natural Park (both in Negros Occidental), and in Mt. Guiting-Guiting, Sibuyan Island. Moreover, Cuernos de Negros is considered as one of the Philippine Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) , a top-priority conservation area both for the native species present and their habitat.
